Welcome to the Cape!

This typical 1950s cape with small rooms and low ceilings was opened up to allow roof dormers to act as skylights to bring daylight into the first floor. The existing central narrow stairs, bound on both sides by dark sheetrock walls, were removed to open the floor plan front to back. A welcoming street-friendly porch invites family and guests and acts as a buffer to activate the front lawn. This project was as much about the quality of outdoor living as indoor living.
